Flags for the Fourth Dimension (2011)

seersucker fabric, snaps/press studs; dimensions variable

There’s the time-space continuum. It’s an infinite grid in neon blue on a darkest blue ground. There’s a voice explaining the concept. It’s a man’s voice — measured and angular. He picks up two points of the grid and brings them together to explain how time and space might come together. I take the two points from him, put press studs on them and click them together. Then more points and more press studs. I twist the time-space continuum, wring it, intertwine it and snap it together here, there, now and then.

This piece was exhibited at the Anna Schwartz Gallery, Melbourne, in 2011 and at the Margaret Lawrence Gallery (now the Fiona and Sidney Myer Gallery) in The Five Obstructions, an exhibition curated by Melbourne based curator, artist and educator Martina Copley.
